Beyond the Pose: Yoga’s Inner Work

Do you remember your first yoga experience? Mine happened in 2012. The first time I rolled my mat out, I had one goal: get bendy. I thought it would be a complementary form of exercise to the running regimen I’d started a year before.

Exercise.

That’s how I described the practice of yoga—in the beginning. Little did I know at that time how much yoga would become a part of my daily spiritual life. That the practice of yoga went beyond flexibility and Instagram-worthy photos of poses in beautiful, exotic locations. Each time I stepped onto the mat, I became physically stronger, but a far more important transformation began to take place.

I began to feel more grounded and connected to the world around me. I found myself going inward more, exploring the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit that Yogic teachings emphasize. I realized a yoga practice isn’t what you’re wearing or achieving the perfect pose. The practice of yoga goes beyond the physical postures. It’s about practicing nonattachment, living a truthful life, being a part of a community, giving back, connecting to your breath and the life force within all of us.

Western culture tends to focus on the asanas and has a reputation for industrializing yoga, focusing more on the business of yoga rather than what ancient Indian traditions believe it is: the preparation of the body to unite with the spirit, whether that’s oneself or a higher power.

Your Yoga Story Matters: Seeking Applications for a New Anthology

As the founder and creative director of Ghostwriting Solutions STL (GSS), I believe in the power of collective storytelling. Currently, GSS is curating an anthology for yoga teachers titled, “Beyond the Pose: Yoga’s Inner Work.” This project aims to create a rich tapestry of voices exploring the profound, often subtle, ways yoga transforms our lives from the inside out – moving beyond the physical aspects of asana.

The anthology invites yoga teachers to share their personal journeys and insights on the impact yoga has had in their lives beyond the physical practice.

GSS is seeking contributions from yoga teachers from all backgrounds that explore the subtle yet powerful ways yoga reshapes our inner world – how it changes our perception of ourselves and the world, while influencing how we navigate relationships and challenges.

The goal: To bring together authentic voices in one book that explores what yoga means to YOU and how it’s impacted your life.

Like your yoga practice, the benefits of participating in this anthology go far beyond the mat—or, in this case, the page. Accepted participants can expect the following benefits:

Inspiration

Sharing your story will inspire fellow practitioners and teachers to explore their practice beyond the mat, bringing it inward, and making it more personal.

Connection

Build your community and let your voice be heard.

Reach

The anthology will be published on Amazon and all major book retailers and promoted to achieve bestseller status. Following your story, you’ll receive a one-page bio in the anthology to promote your yoga teachings/businesses. The anthology is an investment vehicle for your business and could be tax deductible. Please consult with your tax professional for more information.

The Details

Project title: Beyond the Pose: Yoga’s Inner Work

Start date: May 1, 2025 (Submissions close June 30, 2025)

Publication date: December 1, 2025

Submission requirements: Must be a 200-hour or greater yoga teacher.

The anthology is limited to 20-30 participants.

The Investment

Participating in this anthology does require an investment. The reason for the buy-in (pardon the industry speak) is to cover the cost of publication, including professional editing, marketing, and national and international launches. We work with a marketing team to increase the chances of the anthology becoming an Amazon top new release, national and international bestseller.

You not only become a published author, but a bestselling one and every participant gets a one-page bio included in the anthology to promote their classes/studios.

Anthologies are more than a collection of stories. They’re a wonderful tool to promote your business.

All contributors/authors retain full rights to their work and can be sold in yoga studios. Books would be available at the wholesale price with any markup at the author’s discretion.

Another benefit of participating in an anthology is you have the opportunity to have a book published with your name and works in it for a fraction of the cost than if you wrote it or hired someone to write it for you.
